This last winter I had the privilege of meeting the McWhirter family for the first time! We spent a cold, but sunny, winter morning hanging out at McMurtrey's Red-Wood Christmas Tree Farm to capture a few photos of the family for the holidays. Charlie wasn't walking yet, and Madisyn brought Elsa doll along for the photos and spent a good majority of her time splashing in half-frozen puddles with daddy!
I was so honored when Kamiki contacted me again to venture out to MoClips to photograph their entire family (including their dog Gracie and Kamiki's parents for a few photos!) Madisyn brought Cinderella this time and Charlie showed off her walking skills by making her own splashes this time around ;)
When Kamiki and Jeremy first met, they started taking day trips out to MoClips, which soon turned into camping out of the back of Jeremey's Jeep - along with Gracie who was just a puppy at the time! She wasn't a huge fan of the long car ride there, but boy did she enjoy the beach once they arrived...chasing birds, running for miles, and splashing around in the ocean with her new mom and dad!
Fast forward 7 years, Gracie has been with them through it all, marriage, 2 new baby sisters, and lots of fun trips to the beach! As I was working on editing their photos, Kamiki let me know that Gracie had to be put to rest since their last trip to the ocean. Since I'm such a dog lover and am always taking photos of my own dogs, Gracie was naturally in my viewfinder a good majority of the time during their photo session. As I finished up their gallery, I found my heart swelling with sadness, as well as happiness that I was able to document her last days with her family at the beach.
Thank you McWhirter family for allowing me be a part of your life! So happy to have crossed paths with you, and wish you all the happiest of days as you move forward without a piece of your hearts!
